Riserva Vigneto Campaccio
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG
Our family wanted to express the secrets of the “Vigneto Campaccio”, a small clay and stone field, where the native clones that still live there were planted almost a century ago. A place where our work commitment is very important, totally addressed to the utmost respect and protection for its natural integrity and biological survival. Only by respecting this purity, rationality and harmony that nature has given us in this small vineyard, could we be able to have such an unrepeatable wine.

Prugnolo gentile: 90% – Canaiolo nero: 5% – Mammolo: 5%
October 2018, second week, harvest strictly made by hand. We select the best grapes from our vineyard Campaccio, which is 0.87 hectare wide with a clay and small marl rocks soil.
The harvested grapes were immediately taken to the cellar, destemmed and crushed and after a cold pre-maceration, placed to ferment on the skins with natural yeasts, in 50 hl tanks. at a controlled temperature for 46 days, with static quiescence in the final phase. Special delestages were carried out throughout the period to facilitate optimal extraction. The malolactic fermentation took place immediately after the alcoholic one.
The aging of the wine took place in 500-liter tonneaux of French oak from Allier and Vosges for about 44 months, without marking the wine with hints of wood, with the sole purpose of enhancing the territorial peculiarities. Subsequently the wine was left to rest in stainless steel vats, then bottled and aged in glass, before being put on the market.
This wine beautifully represents the character of this special vineyard, obtained from very old plants on a soil composed of closed clay mixed with stone, which manifests itself in particular organoleptic wisdom. It has an intense ruby red color tending to garnet, with violet reflections. The aromas are of red and ripe wild fruit, aromas of spices, tobacco and black pepper, with references to the Coscia di Monaca, the native plum of Montepulciano. The full and structured taste remains long in the mouth, revealing elegant and balanced by soft tannins and good acidity. It goes wonderfully with red meats on the spit and grilled, with game and aged cheeses, but it can be pleasantly drunk even without food. The serving temperature is 18/20 ° C. To uncork the bottle at the moment of consumption, care must be taken to oxygenate the wine well, even in a decanter but without shaking it too much. However, we recommend opening it at least 3 or 4 hours before the service.

The continuous bond over time that unites wine with the concept of freedom has always fascinated our family. This is for us the greatest respect for freedom of expression of the territory.

Vinsanto di Montepulciano
Occhio di Pernice D.O.C.
Our family has always preserved the secret of its Vin Santo, which does not lie in particular recipes, but in a natural and historical selection that nature itself carries out autonomously, when the best grapes are used, inside the small wooden casks where Vin Santo is born and matures: the caratello. It is inside these casks that, over the course of many decades, even centuries, the “Mother” is naturally selected, that is, a historical concentration of yeasts and organic matter, which determines the slow fermentation of the must from dried grapes, imprinting on the final product the true and distinctive peculiar characteristics, different and specific, never the same, in every vintage and in every farm. Our historic Occhio di Pernice Mother is almost 200 years old.Maturato

“Maturato” is a term that we have used to specify that is produced with on vine long-aged grapes, which must be harvested manually at the end of October. We produce it only in the best crops. The most used grapes are PULCINCULO’s (is the grape’s variety used for Montepulciano’s Vin Santo).
