Vigne Vecchie di Famiglia

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Bio

We wanted to express the secrets of our Vecchja Vigna planted by Giuseppe Tiberini in 1918. Just as elderly people express wisdom of content in their stories, so old plants know how to make the concept of the territory reach our senses with great wisdom and fine depth, such to make the sip unique and full of absolute charm. We would like this vineyard to never die, we are as attached to it as to its mother and we reserve absolute attention and care for it, convinced that its udder will be able to give us the milk necessary to feed the need for richness of content and singular character that the evolved research consumer.

HARVEST

Second week of October, with manual harvesting of the grapes in this old vineyard, whose soils are mainly composed of a mixture of sands and clays with small marl stones.

VINIFICATION

The harvested bunches were immediately taken to the cellar, selected by hand, de-stemmed and delicately pressed. After a brief cold pre-maceration, they were placed to ferment on the skins with their natural yeasts, in a 30 hl tank. at controlled temperature, with appropriate pumping over and delestages. The malolactic fermentation took place immediately after the alcoholic one.

AGING

The maturation of the wine took place in 500-litre French oak tonneaux, without marking the wine with hints of wood, with the sole purpose of making the wine mature in natural micro-oxygenation and thus enhancing the fine territorial peculiarities expressed by the old plants. Subsequently the wine was left to rest in a stainless steel vat, then bottled and aged in glass for 15 months, before being put on the market.

CHARACTERISTICS

This wine splendidly represents the deep territorial character full of fine wisdom that only old plants can show in the glass. A character that expresses the splendid view that can be enjoyed from the hill where this old vineyard lives and its soil composed of Pliocene sands and clay mixed with marl stone. It has a ruby color tending towards garnet, with a small purplish edge. The aromas are of red and ripe forest fruit, aromas of spices and black pepper, with hints of orange peel and Coscia di Monaca, the native plum of Montepulciano. The full taste and fine structure remains long in the mouth, revealing itself to be elegant and balanced, with soft tannins and excellent acidity. It goes wonderfully with spit-roasted and grilled red meats, game and aged cheeses, but it can also be pleasantly drunk without food.
