On Thursday, October 7th, 2021, we harvested 3,740 kg of beautiful grapes from the vineyard known as Il Sasso, planted in 1959 within our estate Podere Le Caggiole, in the Pieve Caggiole area.
The grape bunches were first hand-selected in the vineyard, then sorted again in the cellar using a Socma optical selector to eliminate any green or imperfect parts. They were then immediately destemmed and cold-crushed in the absence of oxygen (using a nitrogen-controlled refrigeration system) for a short period of cold maceration. Fermentation on the skins was then carried out with indigenous yeasts in a 35-hl stainless steel tank at a controlled temperature. During the entire process, targeted délestages were performed to promote a balanced extraction, highlighting the fruit’s expression. Malolactic fermentation followed immediately after alcoholic fermentation. The entire fermentation process concluded on November 9th, resulting in 28.05 hl of wine with lees.
After the subsequent settling in concrete and racking, we obtained 2,500 liters of wine suitable for Pieve designation, which we matured in a French oak cask made from a blend of staves from the Allier and Vosges forests. The ageing lasted about 14 months, with the goal of enhancing the unique traits of the Vigna del Sasso in Pieve Caggiole without imparting any overt oak aromas to the wine. The wine was then left to rest, first in a concrete tank for about 3 months for a kind of nano-oxygenative stabilization, and then in an insulated stainless steel tank at low temperature to allow natural settling of coarse particles. The clear part of the wine—only the upper layer from the tank—was bottled on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023, to begin bottle ageing. Only 1,357 bottles (750 ml each) were produced, the result of a strict selection of naturally clarified wine. In this initial experimental phase, we decided to age the wine in bottle for 17 months before its release to the market in March 2025.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Bio
The continuous bond over time that unites wine with the concept of freedom has always fascinated our family. We have 7 generations of experience in individually harvesting our vineyards in Vino Nobile with their native vines, vinifying and maturing them separately, to mix them together only after 2 years, allowing each of them to arrive individually in our glass. This is for us the greatest respect for freedom of expression of the territory.

Riserva Vigneto Campaccio
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG
Our family wanted to express the secrets of the “Vigneto Campaccio”, a small clay and stone field, where the native clones that still live there were planted almost a century ago. A place where our work commitment is very important, totally addressed to the utmost respect and protection for its natural integrity and biological survival. Only by respecting this purity, rationality and harmony that nature has given us in this small vineyard, could we be able to have such an unrepeatable wine.
