Red Wine

VIRGULTO - Tuscany I.G.T. 2013, red wine

GRAPES BLEND:
Prugnolo Gentile: 100%

HARVEST:
October 2013, third week, harvested manually from our Vino Nobile vineyards, where we chose 6000 kg of grapes from the selected historical and characteristic parts.

VINIFICATION:
Fermentation occurred on grape peels and with natural yeasts in a single stainless steel and monitored temperature tank of 50 hl, for 44 days; in this stage, we made few soft fullings and dèlestages, with specific frequency variations. The malolactic fermentation occurred immediately after the alcoholic fermentation.

AGING:
This wine must rest for more than 40 months within 500 L tonneaux made of French durmast from Allier and Vosges, with different stages. After a rest in stainless steel, it was bottled the 01/03/2018 and then aged in glass before it was commercialized.

CHARACTERISTICS: 
The name we chose for this wine represent the tradition and experience of our family in our territory; it remains enjoyable and involving and at the same time it is strong and vivid. We also wanted to enhance the typical and historical vineyard of Montepulciano’s territory: the Prugnolo gentile. This wine perfectly matches with wild game and spit or ember cooked red meats; also good with strong flavour aged cheeses. You can also taste it and enjoy it with friends or reading a book. Best temperature to taste: 18-20°C. To uncork the bottle at any moment, it is recommended to oxygenate the wine without shaking it; better if uncorked 3-4 hours before the consumption.
